The new moringa reality

On April 3 or 8 the emerging moringa industry in Australia changed and came to a somewhat grinding halt!

The FSANZ (food safety Australia and New Zealand) decided to ban the importation of any moringa products, and banned the sale of moringa in Australia as a food, and not fit for human consumption.

Funny thing is though, moringa can still be bought on the shelf of supermarkets and health food stores both in store and on line if they have been TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) approved.

How does this make sense on any level? On one hand it is declared not fit for human consumption and banned from importation as it can't be "proven safe" yet on the other hand if it's approved by the TGA, for example capsules (with the same moringa powder in them), can be taken and eaten as a medicine!

Here is what I think!

when moringa is processed & packaged in government approved facilities & they have full control over the process and can charge what they like, then moringa is OK to eat/take as a medicine and is quite safe to take. 

When it comes to us smaller private growers, relying on moringa products for a living, we are left with a product that is probably far fresher and superior to any other moringa products, yet it's now not fit for human consumption!

As the saying goes- I smell a rat!

So the government wants full control over the emerging Australian moringa industry, and the only way to do that is to push all the smaller growers into a corner or out of business.

Well this little black duck won't be pushed around, and I hope all the other Queensland growers/sellers won't be pushed into a corner either! I am pretty sure everyone is sick of the government taking away our freedoms bit by bit!
